Hi, I’m Dave the owner of Turning Heads Threads. For years, every trip to a surf shop felt like déjà vu. Same colours, same designs, same “wow that’s expensive for a T-shirt” moment. It was like the whole industry got stuck in 2007 and never bothered checking in again.
I wasn’t out to become the next fashion designer. I just wanted shirts that actually had some personality — something fun, loud, cheeky, or at least interesting enough that people don’t glaze over when you walk past. But all I kept finding were the same safe prints that looked like they were designed by a committee that hates fun.
So I did the obvious thing: I started sourcing the good stuff myself.
Not designing — sourcing. Hunting down high-quality shirts with bold, playful, conversation-starting prints you’d NEVER see on a surf-shop rack (unless they threw out their entire range and started again).
And that’s how Turning Heads Threads kicked off.
Our mission is simple: bring in the fun stuff at prices that don’t make you question your life choices. No boring tees. No ridiculous markups. No “inspired by the ocean” slogans that mean nothing. Just shirts with actual personality — the kind that get you double-takes, compliments, and maybe one or two weird looks (the good kind).
Behind the scenes, it’s not some fancy corporate team. It’s just regular humans picking quality blanks, finding prints with attitude, and making sure everything lands at a price that doesn’t hurt your soul.
